"Will Smith to Perform New Song at the 2024 BET Awards"

Get ready for a legendary comeback! Will Smith, the multi-talented star of "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," is set to premiere his brand-new song at the 2024 BET Awards this Sunday, June 30. This marks Smith's first solo musical release in over five years and promises to be a highlight of the evening.

Smith's return to the music stage is highly anticipated following his surprise appearance at Coachella 2024. During J Balvin's set in April, Smith delighted fans by performing "Men in Black," dressed as his iconic character, Agent J. His energetic performance was a nostalgic nod to his earlier musical hits and a hint at more to come.

“From his start as a rapper to The Fresh Prince to becoming a box office king, Will Smith is a global icon. We are honored to have him grace the BET Awards stage,” said Connie Orlando, EVP Specials, Music Programming & Music Strategy at BET. “This year’s awards are set to be an unforgettable night for the culture, and Will’s performance is a key part of that.”

The BET Awards will feature a stellar lineup, including performances by Ice Spice, Tyla, Victoria Monét, GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and a special appearance by Ms. Lauryn Hill and her son, YG Marley. Country star Tanner Adell will also take the BET Amplified stage. The event will be hosted by the dynamic Taraji P. Henson.

Smith’s upcoming song, part of his yet-to-be-titled sixth studio album, will be his first major solo release since his 2005 album "Lost and Found." In 2017, he dropped the EDM single "Get Lit," and has since collaborated with artists like Bad Bunny, Marc Anthony, and Joyner Lucas.

Recently, Smith collaborated with reggae legend Sean Paul for “Light Em Up,” featured in the soundtrack of the latest "Bad Boys" film. In a recent interview with Extra, Smith revealed he has been deeply engaged in creating new music, stating, “I have a project that is, without question, the most personal and powerful music that I’ve ever made. I’m excited to share it with the world soon.”
