Jay-Z is officially taking his talents to one of the biggest stages in entertainment. The hip-hop legend will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show on February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation announced the news on October 26, confirming that the music mogul will finally perform at the halftime show he has helped shape for years.

The announcement marks a major moment in Jay-Z’s career. Since 2019, Roc Nation has partnered with the NFL to advise on and produce the Super Bowl halftime show, helping bring some of music’s biggest names to the football world’s largest annual event.

During that time, audiences have seen performances from artists including Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, The Weeknd, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Usher, Kendrick Lamar, and Bad Bunny. Now, Jay-Z will step into the spotlight himself after years of helping guide the event from behind the scenes.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell previously expressed his hope that Jay-Z would eventually perform. Following the announcement, Goodell said he had asked Jay-Z to take the stage whenever the timing felt right.

For Jay-Z, the moment represents a milestone that has been building throughout his decades-long career. In a statement, he reflected on the journey from his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, to performing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, describing the opportunity as a dream come true.

The Super Bowl announcement arrives during a year celebrating Jay-Z’s lasting impact on hip-hop. His debut album, Reasonable Doubt, was released in 1996 and helped establish him as one of rap’s defining voices. His catalog later expanded with influential projects such as The Blueprint and The Black Album, along with hit records including “99 Problems,” “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem),” and “Empire State of Mind,” his collaboration with Alicia Keys.

Jay-Z has developed a business career that extends well beyond music recording. Through Roc Nation, established in 2008, he has been involved in artist management, sports, entertainment, and live events. His achievements include 25 Grammy Awards, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, and becoming the first rapper to enter the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2017.

His recent JAY-Z30 concert series has highlighted his legacy, celebrating the anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the lasting impact of his music. The series featured performances at Yankee Stadium and stops in London, Paris, and Los Angeles, paving the way for another significant career milestone.

With Jay-Z as the main performer, attention will turn to potential special guests. Beyoncé, a fan favorite, might appear, having headlined the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show in 2013 and performed with Coldplay and Bruno Mars in 2016. Jay-Z’s industry connections offer many collaboration possibilities, but no guests have been announced, leaving fans to speculate. The show will be executive produced by Roc Nation with Hamish Hamilton as director, highlighting Jay-Z’s dual role as artist and entertainment executive.
