Trump Claims Credit for Walmart Price Cuts

Shoppers at Walmart and Sam's Club will see lower prices on thousands of products this summer as the retail giants roll out major seasonal discounts.

President Donald Trump claimed on Truth Social that the company lowered prices at his administration's request to help celebrate America's 250th birthday. He specifically highlighted a nearly 15% price drop on ground beef and encouraged other retailers to follow Walmart's lead.

Walmart confirmed it is cutting prices across thousands of items but did not say the move was made at the administration's request. Instead, the retailer said the savings are meant to help customers spend less during the busy summer season.

Among the biggest discounts are fresh corn for 25 cents per ear, lower prices on ground beef, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and other cookout staples. The company says the rollbacks will remain available throughout the summer while supplies last.
