Amazon's live-action adaptation of the popular "God of War" video game franchise is taking a fresh approach. According to recent reports, showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins, along with executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, have exited the project. Despite completing several scripts, both Amazon and Sony Pictures Television decided to pursue a new creative direction for the series.

Cory Barlog, the creative director of Santa Monica Studio, remains attached to the project as an executive producer. Other key producers include Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan from PlayStation Productions, Yumi Yang from Santa Monica Studio, and Vertigo’s Roy Lee.
With Judkins and his team no longer involved, Amazon and Sony are now seeking a new showrunner and writers to develop the series from the ground up. The show, which was initially greenlit by Amazon Prime Video in 2022, will be completely reimagined, giving fans hope for an exciting new take on the beloved video game saga.
