Shilo Sanders, the 25-year-old safety from Colorado, has embarked on a promising journey with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after going undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft. Despite not hearing his name called during the draft, Sanders quickly secured a three-year, $2.9 million contract with the Buccaneers, signaling the team's belief in his potential .

Upon joining the Buccaneers, Sanders made an immediate impact during the rookie minicamp. Head Coach Todd Bowles noted Sanders' intelligence and vocal leadership, highlighting his quick grasp of defensive concepts and communication skills on the field . Sanders' ability to absorb the playbook and his presence in the secondary have made him a standout among the undrafted free agents.

The Buccaneers' safety depth chart is led by Pro Bowler Antoine Winfield Jr. at strong safety. With the team not selecting a safety in the draft, the free safety position remains open, presenting an opportunity for Sanders to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. His performance in training camp and preseason games will be crucial in securing his place on the team.

Before entering the NFL, Sanders showcased his skills at the University of Colorado, where he recorded 67 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and two fumble recoveries in his final season. Known for his hard-hitting style and ball-hawking abilities, Sanders aims to bring his playmaking skills to the Buccaneers' defense.

As Sanders continues to impress during the offseason, the upcoming training camp and preseason games will be pivotal in determining his future with the Buccaneers. His dedication and performance thus far suggest that he is more than just a name—he's a player to watch as he strives to make his mark in the NFL.
