The NBA has opened an investigation into the Milwaukee Bucks' new contract with guard Gary Trent Jr. over concerns of a possible salary cap violation.

According to multiple reports, the league is reviewing Trent's recently agreed-upon four-year, $64 million contract to determine whether it violates the NBA's collective bargaining agreement.
League officials are looking into the possibility of an improper prearranged agreement, often referred to as a "handshake deal," in which a player accepts below-market contracts with the expectation of receiving a larger payday later.
While there is currently no indication that the Bucks or Trent violated league rules, the NBA routinely investigates transactions that raise concerns about potential salary cap circumvention. If the league finds evidence of an illegal agreement, penalties could include fines, the loss of draft picks or other disciplinary action.
Neither the Bucks nor the NBA has publicly commented on the status of the investigation beyond confirming that a review is underway.
