Former One Direction Star Liam Payne Dies at 31 After Tragic Fall in Buenos Aires

Former One Direction member Liam Payne has tragically passed away at the age of 31 after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to local police, the incident took place at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on Costa Rica Street, in the Palermo neighborhood, as reported by CNN.

Liam Payne rose to fame as part of the globally successful British boyband One Direction, alongside Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan. The group was formed in 2010 after competing on the UK reality show The X Factor. One Direction quickly became a worldwide sensation, producing numerous chart-topping hits and amassing a massive fan following before going on hiatus in 2015.

After the band’s hiatus, Payne launched his solo career, releasing his debut album LP1 in 2019. Earlier this year, in March, he dropped his second album, Teardrops. Liam had recently been in Argentina to attend a concert by his former bandmate Niall Horan, where the One Direction members briefly reunited.

Witnesses at the hotel have stated that Payne fell from his room on the third floor. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, with no confirmation yet on whether it was accidental or intentional. The area has been cordoned off, and a red tent was set up by police to secure the scene.

Liam Payne had openly discussed his struggles with mental health, revealing in 2021 that he had battled alcohol and prescription drug addictions during his time with One Direction, leading to severe depression and suicidal thoughts.
