According to prosecutors, the theft involved thousands of dollars' worth of rare and highly sought-after Pokémon cards, a market that has exploded in value in recent years. Many vintage and limited-edition cards can sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, making them frequent targets for theft.

Authorities said the suspect was identified through the investigation and ultimately convicted on charges related to the theft. The court handed down a 10-year prison sentence, reflecting both the value of the stolen collection and the seriousness of the crime.

The case serves as a reminder that collectible trading cards are increasingly being treated like other high-value assets, with law enforcement and courts taking thefts involving rare collections seriously.
