Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball has been diagnosed with a Grade 1-2 sprain in his right wrist, following an MRI. The injury will sideline him for at least 10 days, keeping him out of action as the team continues its early season schedule.

Ball sustained the injury during the first quarter of the Bulls' 126-123 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. The 27-year-old was attempting to steal a pass intended for Jake LaRavia when he braced his fall, causing the wrist issue. Despite feeling discomfort, Ball played through the pain, finishing with six points and six assists in 18 minutes of game time. The MRI on Tuesday confirmed the extent of the sprain.
This injury setback comes just three games into Ball’s return after being sidelined for over two years due to multiple knee surgeries, including a cartilage transplant. Ball has been easing back into the rotation, averaging 4.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game. Chicago had already been managing his minutes, resting him during back-to-backs to help facilitate his return to full health.
Ball is expected to miss at least five games, beginning with the Bulls' matchup against the Orlando Magic. Backup guard Ayo Dosunmu is likely to see more playing time during Ball's absence.
Though the wrist injury will keep him off the court, Ball will continue lower-body workouts as he rehabs his wrist. The Bulls are hopeful for a quick recovery, allowing him to get back on the court and continue adjusting to NBA action.
