Comedy Central is bringing back the beloved 2000s sitcom “Everybody Hates Chris” with an exciting twist. Chris Rock reprises his role as the narrator, providing the voice of adult Chris as he reflects on his adolescent experiences growing up in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn during the late 1980s. Rock, who also serves as an executive producer, brings his sharp humor and unique perspective to the series.

Joining him are Terry Crews and Tichina Arnold, who will once again voice Chris’ parents, Julius and Rochelle. Crews’ Julius is the frugal and hardworking father, known for his meticulous penny-pinching and relentless work ethic. Arnold’s Rochelle is the fierce, no-nonsense mother, balancing her nurturing spirit with her tough love approach.

The new cast introduces younger voices to embody the family’s kids and friends. Tim Johnson Jr. steps into the role of young Chris, capturing his struggle to find his place in a lively and often challenging household. Ozioma Akagha voices Tonya, Chris’s mischievous younger sister who knows just how to push his buttons. Terrence Little Gardenhigh will play Drew, the family's golden child, admired for his athletic prowess and cool demeanor. Gunnar Sizemore takes on the role of Greg, Chris’s loyal yet socially awkward friend.

The animated series is produced by CBS Studios, Chris Rock Enterprises, and 3 Arts Entertainment, with animation by Titmouse, known for its work on “Big Mouth.” The revival, first announced in August 2022, continues to build on the success and legacy of the original live-action series that ran from 2005 to 2009.

Sanjay Shah, who serves as the showrunner and executive producer, expressed his excitement for the revival, stating, "I wanted this job to get free tickets to a Chris Rock stand-up show, but we ended up making something we’re proud of that is true to the original series we all loved. "Everybody Hates Chris” originally aired on UPN and later The CW, earning critical acclaim for its humorous yet poignant portrayal of Chris Rock’s upbringing. The show received multiple nominations, including Emmy and Golden Globe nods, and won an NAACP Image Award for writing in 2007. The transition to an animated format allows the series to explore new creative avenues while staying true to its roots.

“Everybody Still Hates Chris” will explore new adventures and challenges faced by young Chris and his family, offering a blend of humor and heartfelt moments. Fans can expect the series to delve deeper into the family dynamics and the everyday struggles of growing up in a working-class family. The animated series is set to premiere on Comedy Central later this year, with additional airings on Paramount+ at a later date. This dual-platform release ensures that both old fans and new audiences will have the chance to enjoy the revival. As “Everybody Still Hates Chris” brings back beloved characters and introduces new voices, it’s set to capture the essence of the original series while offering fresh perspectives and laughs. Stay tuned for more updates on the premiere date and behind-the-scenes looks at the making of this highly anticipated revival.
