The Buffalo Bills have made a significant move, acquiring wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns in a trade that provides star quarterback Josh Allen with a new No. 1 receiving option. The Bills received Cooper, along with a 2025 sixth-round draft pick, in exchange for a 2025 third-round pick and a 2026 seventh-round selection.

This trade addresses a major need for Buffalo after the team dealt Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans earlier in the season, leaving a void in their receiving corps. Cooper, 30, brings veteran experience and a proven track record, having made five Pro Bowl appearances over his 10-year career.
Although Cooper has struggled in 2024, recording just 250 receiving yards and two touchdowns for the Browns, his overall career stats remain impressive. With 691 receptions, 9,736 receiving yards, and 62 touchdowns, he offers a much-needed boost to a Buffalo offense that has been underperforming this season. The Bills' wide receivers currently rank near the bottom of the league in multiple categories, including targets, receptions, and receiving yards.
Buffalo made the trade hours after their AFC East rivals, the New York Jets, acquired wide receiver Davante Adams from the Las Vegas Raiders, setting the stage for an even more competitive division race. The Bills are currently 4-2 and lead the AFC East, but their passing game has taken a hit, with Josh Allen averaging just 193.3 passing yards per game, down significantly from last year.
Amari Cooper, who is in the final year of his contract, is expected to step in and immediately contribute as Allen's top target. With Cooper now in Buffalo, the Bills aim to rejuvenate their aerial attack and push for a deep postseason run.
