The Kansas City Chiefs have once again doubled down on their franchise quarterback, agreeing to a reworked contract with Patrick Mahomes that makes him the first player in NFL history to sign a deal worth more than $500 million.

According to reports, Mahomes' new agreement is valued at $504.75 million and keeps the three-time Super Bowl champion under contract through the 2033 season. The deal includes $239 million in new money and raises his average annual salary to roughly $64 million, the highest mark in NFL history.

The extension is another sign of the Chiefs' commitment to building around the quarterback who has transformed the franchise into an NFL powerhouse. Since becoming Kansas City's starter, Mahomes has led the team to multiple Super Bowl appearances and three championships while establishing himself as one of the greatest quarterbacks of his generation.

The contract also includes incentives and escalators that could push its total value above $522 million, further cementing Mahomes' place atop the NFL salary rankings. The deal surpasses previous quarterback contracts and resets the market once again, something Mahomes has done multiple times during his career.

Despite recovering from a knee injury suffered late last season, Mahomes is expected to be ready for the start of the 2026 campaign. With their superstar quarterback now locked in through 2033, the Chiefs have made it clear they intend to remain contenders for years to come.
