The Los Angeles Lakers have added another key piece to their revamped roster, agreeing to a two-year, $19 million deal with veteran guard Collin Sexton.

Sexton joins Los Angeles after splitting the 2025-26 season between the Charlotte Hornets and the Chicago Bulls, averaging 15.4 points and 3.3 assists while shooting an efficient 48.5% from the field and 40.1% from three-point range. The 27-year-old provides the Lakers with another reliable scoring option in the backcourt after the departures of several guards in free agency.
The signing comes after the Lakers made several major moves to reshape their roster, including acquiring Walker Kessler and adding depth with other free-agent signings. Sexton also reunites with Kessler after the two previously played together with the Utah Jazz.
With the room mid-level exception used on Sexton, the Lakers have now exhausted their remaining spending power and will likely turn their attention to veteran minimum signings and potential trades as they continue building around Dončić for the 2026-27 season.
