The Memphis Grizzlies have officially moved on from franchise star Ja Morant, trading the two-time NBA All-Star to the Portland Trail Blazers in one of the biggest moves of the offseason.

Portland acquired Morant in exchange for veteran forward Jerami Grant and forward Kris Murray, ending Morant's seven-year tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies. The deal gives the Trail Blazers a former All-NBA guard while Memphis continues its franchise reset.
For Portland, the move represents a high-risk, high-reward gamble. The Trail Blazers are betting Morant can rediscover his All-Star form and become a cornerstone alongside a roster that includes veterans and emerging young talent.
Morant remains under contract through the 2027-28 season, giving Portland multiple years to determine whether he can lead the franchise back into playoff contention.
