Bills Leave O.J. Simpson Off Legends Display at New Highmark Stadium

The Buffalo Bills have decided not to include Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson among the franchise legends honored at the team's new Highmark Stadium, ending months of speculation about how the organization would handle one of the most polarizing figures in its history.

Bills president of business operations Pete Guelli confirmed the decision, saying Simpson "is not a fit to display inside our new stadium and family circle." The Family Circle is a year-round plaza outside the stadium that features plaques recognizing some of the greatest players in franchise history.

Although Simpson was the first member of the Bills' Wall of Fame in 1980 and his name remained at the team's former stadium, the organization chose not to carry that recognition into its new home. The Bills are scheduled to open the new Highmark Stadium during the 2026 NFL season, with their first regular-season game set for Sept. 17 against the Detroit Lions.
