The Boston Celtics have officially ended the Jaylen Brown era, trading the five-time All-Star and 2024 NBA Finals MVP to the Philadelphia 76ers in one of the biggest moves of the NBA offseason.

According to ESPN's Shams Charania, Boston acquired veteran forward Paul George, two first-round draft picks and two second-round picks in exchange for Brown. The draft compensation includes a 2028 first-round pick that could convert into a favorable pick swap, an unprotected 2031 first-round selection, and second-round picks in 2028 and 2030.
For Boston, the deal marks a significant shift in direction. After reportedly exploring Brown trades with multiple teams throughout the offseason, the Celtics ultimately chose to acquire an experienced veteran in George while adding valuable draft capital for the future.
The blockbuster trade closes the book on one of the NBA's longest-running star partnerships, ending the Jayson Tatum-Jaylen Brown era that brought Boston multiple deep playoff runs and an NBA championship. Now, both franchises will enter the 2026-27 season with dramatically different outlooks as they pursue another title.
